ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES

VANTAGE POINT (DO NOW)
Vantage Point is the name of the warm ups in the course.  It was named Vantage Point because your perspective on the quotes, numbers, and art will be determined on whats on your mind when you come into the class.  How will you view each quote will be based on your personal as well as your educational life.  Have fun with this daily activity.
At the beginning of class come in review the quote/art/numbers that are on the board and tell me what you believe it means to you.
  • DO NOT share with anyone your perspective.
    • No talking
  • Write Date, Number of Quote, and the Quote or number (artwork does not have to be drawn.
    • Complete on front page of your Vantage Point Notebook
  • Write a complete page
    • Half a page is required on your first 10 quotes.  After your 10th completed quote a full page is required.
  • At least 5 people share their Vantage Point and provide an example.
  • Mr. Roberson will share his meaning to the quote and connect it to the upcoming lesson.
If you are having trouble completing the activity follow the tips below.
  • Take notes when students are sharing and incorporate their thoughts into your writing.  You can take the idea and explain it in your way or you can write what you heard (working on note-taking skills).
  • Review the past Quotes/Artwork/Numbers and find a connection.
  • Review the past lesson, notes and exit tickets and find a connection to the quote.
  • Review the topics on SnapShot when available before class to give you extra time to think about the topic.
  • Get to class early to allow extra time to complete the activity.

World History - Quotes will be collected after 10 to 15 minutes. Arrive to class earlier if you find you need additional time (10 minutes are given in between classes or you can view them online sometime before class). Quotes will be graded during class. Students will collect their notebooks 10 minutes before class ends and complete the exit ticket. Exit Tickets will be graded the following day when the warm up is graded. If you talk or you are off task during this time, I will expect a full page completed.

Quotes need to start on the first page. No skipping more than two lines. Must finish two lines from the bottom to be considered full page. If you can not write a full page makes sure
to take ideas when students share, and or look over the quotes before class.

When you have finished your quote complete your Success Logs.

1. LSN - Expect 2 Quizzes per week. You will have 10 - 15 minutes to complete the quiz
  • One vocabulary Quiz (this will not be multiple choice)
  • Notes Quiz (this may or may not be multiple choice)
  • The first quiz will be two weeks from the start of school
  • Students are required to study the HSA Objectives Assessment.
First Assessment to be quizzed will be the Government Structure, Functions, and Principles Assessments
  • If you may not understand all the questions and answers as you study come to class with questions for clarification. I don't know or I did not understand will not suffice when it's time to take the quiz.

EXIT TICKET

Complete the Exit ticket on the back page of the warm up completed for that day.  Exit Tickets need to be completed EVERY DAY once we begin the historical content of the course.
If it is not completed in class it needs to be completed as homework!
  • There will be Exit Ticket Assessments at the end of every week.
    • Warm up on Every Friday
    • Summation of what learned over the course of the week.
      • Students WILL NOT be allowed to use their notes but will be allowed to review their Exit Tickets.
        • Imperative that students do not write their Exit Tickets in their Notes Notebook because they will not be able to use them during this type of quiz.

TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS
  • Every student must have a folder to turn in their hard copy assignments.  The student should have their name written in this folder and on their assignments.

  • If emailing work students must put the items below in the subject box to ensure I can locate their work.
  1. Name of assignment
  2. Name of student
  3. Grade and Class Period
  4. Course

All assignments are due on the due date. Students are to make accommodations in advance if they are going to be absent on the day the assignment is due. Exceptions will be rare since you will be able to email your assignments.

- Prepare in advance. There are 2 extra credit projects that that can be done throughout the quarter.
S.T.A.R². Challenge (Goal Setting)
History Day Assignment (Legacy & Leadership)
