Expectations for Assignments
I believe in the ideal "expect what you demand" wholeheartedly. I expect a lot from my students and I will work with you to be successful. The bar will be set high and I will challenge you as students. EARLY Communication is key to success. If communicate with me I will be able to work with you, and it will be easier to succeed in my class. Communication does not mean on the day of the due assignment you tell me your issues and difficulties. Discussing with me in advance will allow us to figure out a plan in order for you to complete the assignment in a timely fashion. I will not be able to help you if you do not communicate with me AND it will be difficult to help you if you do not communicate with me early.

STEPS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Examples of the Expectations are all numbered 1 because every expectation is a number on priority in my course.
1. There are a number of school wide policies in place for loitering, profanity, class disruptions, fighting, vandalism, etc. These policies should not be an issue while we are in class learning.
1. All students are expected to be ON TIME for class. ON TIME means in your seat, prepared, and ready to receive instruction (completing the Warm Up) WHEN THE BELL RINGS. You are considered TARDY, if you are not in your seat by the time the bell rings.
1. Earn the most points possible whenever an assignment is given especially if you do not test well. Remember you only have to average a 50% on your assessment grades, IF you earn 100% on all your class work, participation, and homework assignments.
1. DO NOT PUT YOUR WORK ON MY DESK unless I have instructed you to do so. This will eliminate work being lost or not recieved.
1. Passes to leave the room is limited to emergency situations only. Medical conditions require a parent's note and some situations will require a doctor's note.
1. STAY IN YOUR SEAT. Use Hand Signals when needed.
1. LISTEN - When someone is talking (especially the teacher) or a video is being played, you should be listening and not talking. Listening can eliminate a lot of mistakes if you pay attention to what is being said and asking questions if you do not understand. Do not assume you know or your friend knows everything.
1. CELLPHONES, IPODS, VIDEO GAMES etc., are NOT allowed in class unless I personally authorize it. This authorization will be a daily requirement unless I personally let you know. Some assignments or studying will require you to use your electronic devices for educational purposes. Using your electronic device in any other situation and or without my consent is strictly prohibited. If you the electronic device becomes a distraction, I will confiscate the device and your parent or guardian will be required to come in and pick it up.
1. Keep in mind some assignments you will not be able to make up if you do not turn them in on time or sent to the correct destination. If time has elapsed and you have been off task you will receive a zero. Some assignments will be timed and if you do not follow the instructions, your grade will suffer. Classes have their own blog and current event links as well as their own email. Make sure you follow the instructions when submitting your work. I WILL NOT spend time looking for your assignments.
1. If you are absent, it is up you to come and find out what you missed AND get any missed work. It is not my responsibility to look for you and give you the work missed.
1. Give 100% Effort, 100% of the time. Being consistent in working hard, studying, being focused with an unrelenting mindset will allow you to succeed in my class.
1. Accept Consequences and Learn from your mistakes.
1. Your behavior is just as important as you doing and completing your work. Behavior and completing your work (correctly and efficiently) go hand in hand and can NOT be separated. BOTH ARE REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN CLASS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY LIFE.
1. Current Events (3 CEs per quarter) and Blogs (3 per quarter) are completed online. You can not complete the assignment on paper unless I have given you permission to do so. Once I have graded the assignment you WILL NOT be able to make the assignment up. Make sure you submit them to your class page.
I want you to succeed and be successful this year. If you work with me, I will work with you. If we all work together we will have a great time this year.
